5-6.10 Minuet course with I Fäälan and Jessica Krohn
Mats Granfors, fiddle, Kenneth Nordman, fiddle and Jessica Krohn, minuet dancing.
Now you have the opportunity to attend a course focused on minuet playing, where there is also a chance for musicians who are interested to try minuet dancing. We will play several predominantly Ostrobothnian minuets and also work on the harmonies for these tunes. The minuet is largely unique to Swedish-speaking Finland today and has been included on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage. Southern Osthrobotnia has a particularly rich minuet tradition. Traditionally there has been a polska following a minuet so we will also be leraning a few polskas.
All instruments are welcome. Learning will be done by ear, and we will focus on the minuet’s unique character and the interaction with dancers.
During Saturday afternoon, you can choose either to play or participate in the dance instruction.
